Hebrews 12:1 GNB “As for us, we have this large crowd of witnesses round us. So then, let us rid ourselves of everything that gets in the way, and of the sin which holds on to us so tightly, and let us run with determination the race that lies before us.”
Gigi was a beautiful, fiery little mare who took Judy Shepard, a Colorado barrel racer, to many awards and titles some thirty five years ago. My husband and I were running our horse training barn in Colorado when a bronze sculptor, Bill Huber, from Minnesota relocated near us. He kept a horse at our facility and because of my interest in art, he tutored me in sculpting. Naturally, because I was a barrel racer, that’s what I chose to sculpt. I had a great time doing it but I was raising two kids, keeping house and riding five to seven horses a day and had no money, time or energy left over for sculpting so I did that one and that was it. Judy’s husband, Rick Shepard, gave the original to Judy as a present and my husband had one cast for me for a Christmas present. I kept the mold all these years… over 30 years, but had never considered pursuing it… until friends encouraged me while attending my husband’s memorial to take it up again. The sculpture of Judy Shepard and her amazing barrel racing mare, Gigi, is available with the rest of my work.
